It is an interesting navigational phenomenon that when an aircraft locks on to a directional beacon under its automatic pilot, it travels approximately 90 percent of its flight in error.
Each time the aircraft strays off the beacon, its aircraft guidance system corrects for the error and moves it back on course. Winds aloft, barometric pressure, many things can influence the flight of the aircraft. Thus the entire flight path is a series of errors, continually correcting in mid-course as the journey progresses. Paragliding is 99% going the wrong direction, yet an experienced pilot can land on a quarter inch ribbon in a one mile quare field!
What does this teach us? Don't worry about beeing off course!
Instead, learn how and when to make your mid-course correction. Develop confidence that the journey is generally proceeding as it should, and keep alert for the necessary corrections. Every failure we experience then becomes part of our success. Failures are indicators that we are moving, and learning as we move.
Carrying this thought out to its logical conclusion, it is virtually impossible to make a wrong decision with respect to our own development, once we have determined our goals and destination. We will only go wrong if we let the nose of our craft stray off-course without moving to correct it at once as soon as we see that we are drifting.
Our perception of our own ability to perform is increased and made more enduring every time we overcoome an obstical and persevere towards a challenging goal. A sure way to personal-development-growth.
