Using gestures, your posture to increase sales Self Development for Sales People

Author: Claus & Ingrid Dreyer

The last thing that you will want to do is stand there and pretend like nothing is happening at a sales meeting. You have to show some emotions and some excitement when it comes to selling. You will find that there are gestures that you will want to make and add to the way that you carry yourself.

You will find that with some gestures, you will be able to entice the buyers to listen more deeply and you'll be able to seal the deal. You will find that area lot of gestures that you can do to show some excitement, but you don't want to go overboard with the gestures. You do not want to just have your arms waving with no point. When you do that, you will only end up getting yourself in trouble. With too many gestures, the buyers are going to think that you have some kind of mental disorder where you cannot stand still or that you look even crazy. You need to find a good medium so that you do not look like a stiff, and so you don't look like you have some mental issues.

The way that you can make some subtle gestures is you can point to some information or use your hands to reference a fact so that you can be stronger. You will also find that with the subtle gestures you will be able to do things like nod or shake your head. When you take the time to show some type of movement, you'll be able to make it worth while. You will find that if you make yourself just do something simple you'll be able to make a better impression.

However, say that you are at a point in the presentation where you are excited; you will want to show some excitement. Don't forget that your facial gestures are very important to show that you know what you are doing and that you are a strong person. You will also want to come a little bit closer to them (take a few steps towards the table) and use your open arm gesture to show just how big or exciting the project is going to be. When you do this you will be able to make things work just right for the presentation. You will be able to show some emotion and get into the presentation.

As for your posture, you have to learn how to control your body. You do not want to be stiff or look like your uncomfortable. You need to stand straight up, with a relaxed neck. You will want to stand with confidence too. You need to look at everyone and greet each person like you would your family on the holiday. You will stand straight with a smile and you don't want to show any signs of nervousness. You do not want to chew gum or fidget (true signs that you are nervous).

The way that you can feel confident before a show or presentation is by taking control of the room. When you stand there in front of everyone and make some small talk before the presentation, you'll find that everyone will look at you with confidence. You will find that there are many people who will use small talk to get comfortable with the crowd, but confidence will build when you take the time to get comfortable. Once you know your audience and are confident and comfortable, you will find that not only will you feel better about the presentation, but your gestures and posture will just come natural.

Keep in mind that the way that you use your hands and other gesture may be offending to other cultures. If you are speaking in front of people from another culture, you will want to research traditional business practices so that you can avoid gestures that may seem like nothing to you, but negative to the other cultures.
